Getting some Perspective

We are never TAUGHT about resilience. 
(Educators… please consider that this would be a valuable school subject!)

Not only do we not learn about it, but it’s also not a subject that is talked about openly. It’s a word thrown around so much in passing conversations, but it’s a hard one to define and not many people know where to start to build up their resilience.

Our Protective Shields

We see resilience as a shield of protection we build up around us.

This shield includes confidence, courage, perspective, support and mental strength.

This shield means that the challenges and obstacles that come upon us, they don’t tear us down.

Our shield protects us. The challenges just bounce off us, or at worst, make tiny dents. Not big holes. Not destruction.

So How do we Build Resilience?

1. Develop Strong Relationships

This includes a supportive network or individuals you can trust and rely on during tough imes

2. Adopt a Growth Mindset

View obstacles and bumps in the road as opportunities for learning and growth.

 

3. Focus on what you can Control

Being mindful of where energy goes, leading the way for higher productivity which, in turn, generates greater success.

4. Take Greater Care of Yourself

This captures physical, mental & emotional health too. Be mindful of the negative self-talk that damages our self-view.

5. Develop your Mental Fitness

From self-awareness to self-regulation and everything in-between. Being mentally fit helps prepare us for the challenges life throws at us.

 

Picking Up Your Shield

The leaders we work with, come seeking their resilience shield so that they can grow their leadership impact and reach their optimum levels of wellbeing.
